It’s pink month, all about raising awareness of breast cancer, something I hate to talk and think about but for the month of October, these words will be on the lips of people around the world. I had my breast checked after my first son was born and found a lump, a lump that turned out to be benign but waiting for those results was the worst week of my life. I had it checked again after my second son was born as it grew bigger, again, more anxiety over it but the surgeon is happy with the fact we biopsied it those three years ago. I am very lucky but others aren’t and if I went through that much anxiety over something that wasn’t anything to worry about, I couldn’t imagine how a woman feels finding out that their lump is in fact positive. After my experience, I decided that I would give annually to the McGrath Foundation, an amazing foundation that sends love and care to women battling the disease. You know, I am not getting paid to talk about this, nor was I asked, it is all just coming to me as I type, in fact, I was going to tell you that this is the outfit I plan to wear to the races tomorrow but something inside of me asked me to share this story.  I don’t believe it is ever too early to get checked, I am 31 and for peace of mind, I will get checked annually. I hope I have touched someone or opened up someones eyes to getting checked as early detection is so important. How lucky are we to be able to book in and make an appointment? Very!
