With the touch of a woman and the essence of McQueen tradition, Spring Summer 2011 looks to me like the powerhouse name of Alexander McQueen will continue to reign for our life time to come. Sitting at the thrown of the house of McQueen, is Sarah Burton’s and upon viewing this collection you can truly see that her presence has played a strong role throughout her15 years along side  Alexander ‘Lee’ McQueen himself. Her understanding and her existence in the McQueen world brings us nothing short of a fascinating, desirable and creative collection that we have seen in seasons passed but this time with a woman’s touch.

The wave of models flowed out, starting with a completely white look as if a white light shining and following we see the natural, prints and shapes that we love about McQueen but with that softened, feminine look as if telling the story of nature as it grows. From light to dark and light again, fine embroidery, ornate flower shoes, leaves of black leather and a flurry of feathers sequence the runway and define the inspiration ‘nature’. Girls swallowed in butterflies and as if arise from swamp reeds, oh how this collection takes me to a dream place that only a girl could dream of. The peaked shoulders have been slashed and relaxed without grief, the ever so dramatic staging has been pulled back and takes you somewhere soft, nature and core mother earth. The nature inspiration stemmed from the grassy set, to the earthy weaved hair and pure make up, through to the story telling collection itself. My favourite looks being the high neck sleeveless print dress with a distinct wave rustle detail and a long white, high neck flowing and enchanting belted dress!
