Rain hail and more rain didn’t stop the bare foot beauties dripped in flamboyant and envy worthy Camilla Babylon S/S10/11 collection Wednesday evening poolside at Melbourne’s newest ‘it’ hotel The Olsen.

The who’s who of fashion, celebrity and long time Camilla Frank fans joined the vivacious designer herself, dressed in head to toe in her rainbow splashed designs and oh so envious (and now available in stores) shoes in celebration of her latest collection and the success she has had so far. Taking the world by a colourful storm, with the likes of Beyonce, Fergie and our own Delta Goodrem spotted in a signature colourful and handmade graphic print kaftan, it was plain to see the overwhelming support her guests shared for this passionate and extremely approachable woman who has a fabulous sense of humor.

The Babylon collection which includes Camilla’s signature free-flowing kaftans, glamorous maxi dresses, jumpsuits and playsuits was inspired by her imagination as a child and reminiscing of the days she once played in her grandparent’s garden. The name was the name she called herself when playing as a child, vivid colours, characters and creativeness that flowed through her child eyes is represented in this luxurious collection. Bold, pastel, electric and fluro-coloured silk blend prints feature Mother Nature’s beautiful landscapes including tropical and rainforest illustrations with butterflies, peacocks and tigers.

Camilla Franks is all about empowering the woman, believing a woman has the right to look and feel beautiful and shouldn’t have to read her tag size to feel beautiful hence her kaftans are a free size and are extremely versatile not to mention lusciously exotic. She believes in the power of colour and explained to me ‘in Australia, we are blessed with a colourful country’ and this is depicted in her designs and stays clear from the traditional runway block colour trends as seen on the international scene.

What a fabulous event and celebration of Camailla Franks adored designs, be sure to check out the Camilla Babylon Collection and see for yourself why the women of the world have gone Camilla crazy.
